Off to see The King And I at BCA!

Today at school some seniors had backpack hangers installed.  The guy installing them was putting them in and Pam said, “Thank you.”

The guy immediately replied back in the nicest way, “You know, in the five years I’ve been working here no one has ever said thank you.  Thanks.”

I don’t know.  For Pam and I there (who were both appreciating everything, they were so cool) we just felt insanely good.  And maybe we even made that guy’s day!

But yeah, always say thank you :) .

I was listening to the Finding Nemo score after finding that little gem called Nemo Egg again.

Anyways, listening to Beyond The Sea made me remember this one really special memory.  I believe it was my sophomore year and I was helping out with the Induction Ceremony at BCA with Juju, Andy, and several other kids.  A lot of kids were leaving, and it ended up being Juju and I as one of the few kids remaining along with Chef J and Chef B.  I was getting pretty bored so I decided to bust out some Beyond The Sea because it was stuck in my head at the time, and Chef J, being a classic lover started belting out too.  I remember Chef B saying I was pretty good, and Chef J started singing a lot of his own songs too.  I think it’ll be hard to forget the kind of voice Chef J has.  He’s got that kind of rich, baritone voice that Frank Sinatra has.  It was pretty damn fun that night, I have to say.  I really, really enjoyed that night.

I think this was the first time I ever really appreciated the kind of family that culinary academy blessed me with.  I got a whole bunch of friends in there, and a second father figure in Chef J.

I’ll definitely miss culinary academy.  No doubt.

and on this very beautiful tuesday, the BCA blog wishes the happiest of birthdays to the wonderful Dr. Don DeWitt! he’s a marvelous teacher, one of the highlights of BCA, and a generally fantastic person.

Cause I’m dying just to make you see that I need you here with me now.  Cause you’ve got that one thing.  So get out, get out, get out of my head and fall into my arms instead.  I don’t, I don’t, don’t know, know what it is.  But I need that one thing.  You’ve got that one thing.

Lol…doing this for Cabaret possibly with the Christmas Assembly boys :) .
