Dear Filipino IDT Fambam,
It’s been a day since yesterday’s performance, and let me just say thank you to all of you. It’s been a long and difficult journey that spanned 3 months of this school year. This was my last IDT and I’m so glad I spent it with all of you. I may not have always been there physically, but you guys have always been on my mind and in my heart. It literally seems like yesterday when we had our first meeting and we went around in a circle telling each other our name, what academy we were in, and something about ourselves. As weeks passed and practices winded down, we put on an awesome audition that definitely impressed the judges/coordinators. Eventually, we had our first rehearsal and the fun that we all shared with one another as a big fambam showed and we even got to be blessed with a finale performance!
Then yesterday, we really did come together. As acts winded down the most important thing that I wanted was for all of us to gather together and thank all of you. We all huddled together and listened/cried to the speeches that several seniors gave and prayed (I apologize by the way if some of you weren’t Christian/Catholic) for an amazing performance.
And finally, we did it. And we did it well. In my blurb I talked about how we as a family are not related by blood, but by one heart. Well…in that finale when we all huddled up, I could definitely feel it. I heard a couple of cheers and there were definitely some victory fist pumps and what not coming from a lot of you guys (at least I know I did)! It’s corny, but lining up all together like that really felt like we were all connected as one family.
So, trust me when I say that the stress, time, and effort was worth it. Blood, sweat, and tears went into yesterday’s performance and I appreciate and love all of you for that.
Mahal na mahal sa inyong lahat <3 .
Love,
James Martin Tan
